I'm raising vital funds in aid of Your Local Air Ambulance
Every day of the year, Your Local Air Ambulance (Warwickshire & Northamptonshire/Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland) is helping save more lives. Their critical care paramedics, doctors and pilots attend an average of ten rescue missions a day.
On the 5th October, I was involved in a high speed motorbike accident in South Kilworth that devastatingly took my friends life. I sustained the following serious injuries.
I broke my femur in 3 places, I broke my tibia, I broke my jaw in 3 places and fractured my cheek. I fractured my left shoulder, I broke 2 ribs, I fractured my skull, I fractured 4 bones in my neck, I had a grade 3 spleen laceration along with other internal bleeding, I also have nerve damage due to a brachial plexus fracture.
Miraculously, I survived. But only thanks to the first responders at the scene, the life saving treatment by the critical care team, and the 6 MINUTE journey by air ambulance to university hospital Coventry. On average that journey would have taken 30-45 minutes by road, depending on traffic. Those 24-39 minutes saved were quite literally the difference between life and death.
I am now back home recovering. All thanks to Air Ambulance G-WNAS.
The air ambulance gives people the very best chance of survival and recovery. They are supported by a Critical Care Car meaning that they can reach those who need them 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. The charity receives no government funding for its daily missions.
