YLAA SNOWDON FOR SUNRISE 2026

I'm taking on Snowdon for Sunrise in support of Your Local Air Ambulance

Every day of the year, Your Local Air Ambulance (Warwickshire & Northamptonshire/Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland) is helping save more lives. Our critical care paramedics, doctors and pilots attend an average of five rescue missions a day.

The air ambulance gives people the very best chance of survival and recovery. We are supported by a Critical Care Car meaning that we can reach those who need us 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. The charity receives no government funding for its daily missions.

Taking on Snowdon… as a “not built for it” bloke

Sunday 19th Apr

On the 7th June, I’ll be taking on one of the biggest challenges I’ve ever set myself a night climb up Snowdon to catch the sunrise… all in support of the Air Ambulance.

Now, let’s be honest… I’m not your typical mountain climber.

I’m a big lad. Built more for graft and getting stuck into work than hiking up mountains in the middle of the night. If anything, my body is probably better suited to a fry-up than a summit attempt. But that’s exactly why I’m doing it.

This isn’t just about the climb it’s about pushing myself way outside my comfort zone.

Why I’m doing it

Like a lot of people, I’ve been saying for a while I need to get fitter. Life, work, and everything else always seems to get in the way… but this time, I’ve committed to something that I can’t back out of.

The Air Ambulance is an incredible cause. They’re there when people need them most often in situations where minutes make all the difference. It’s one of those services you hope you never need… but you’re incredibly grateful exists.

So if I’ve got to drag myself up a mountain to help support that then so be it.

The challenge

This isn’t just a walk.

It’s a night climb.

That means setting off in the dark, headtorch on, legs already questioning life choices halfway up… all to reach the summit in time to watch the sunrise.

And let’s be real for someone like me, this is going to be tough.

It’s not just the distance or the incline it’s the fact that I’m carrying more weight than most people attempting it, with a body that isn’t exactly designed for mountain climbing.

But that’s kind of the point.

Proving a point (to myself)

This is about proving that no matter your size, your starting point, or how “unfit” you might feel — you can still take on something massive.

It won’t be pretty.
It won’t be fast.
But I’ll get it done.

Step by step.

How you can help

If you can support me even just a few quid it genuinely means a lot.

Every donation goes towards keeping the Air Ambulance doing what they do best: saving lives.

And if nothing else… your support will help drag a big bloke up Snowdon at 1.30am 😅
