We are fundraising in support of Your Local Air Ambulance
In March 2025 Joe had a nasty accident involving a circular saw and his right hand. A road ambulance and the Air Ambulance were dispatched to help him and they all did an amazing job to keep him alive and get him to hospital quickly enough to save his hand. Joe did an interview about his experience with the BBC: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cd9kv8wjlyqo
In order to raise some money we are setting out to hopefully complete the Isle of Wight Ultra Challenge. This consists of walking a full lap of the Island over 2 days, which is a distance of about 100km or 60 miles. https://www.ultrachallenge.com/isle-of-wight-challenge/
The average cost of an Air Ambulance mission is £2300, so as a family we have set this amount as our fundraising target to give a little back for all the help Joe received.
Please donate generously, as you never know you may need the air ambulance yourself one day.
Thanks,
Joe, Muriel, Ellie, and Daisie.
Every day of the year, Your Local Air Ambulance (Warwickshire & Northamptonshire/Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland) is helping save more lives. Our critical care paramedics, doctors and pilots attend an average of five rescue missions a day.
The air ambulance gives people the very best chance of survival and recovery. We are supported by a Critical Care Car meaning that we can reach those who need us 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. The charity receives no government funding for its daily missions.
My Updates
Training Update
Sunday 19th Apr We have finally completed the last long walks in our training. This time we walked 30km on Friday afternoon, and then woke early on Saturday to walk another 30km. Hopefully this will prepare us well to complete the full 106km, which is only 2 weeks away now.
Training Update
Wednesday 1st Apr We have now all walked 40 kilometres in a single day, building on our previous training. As this is the longest we have all walked so far (except a much younger version of Joe), we all found it tough towards the end. However we are still full of determination to complete the full 106k in just a few weeks.
Training Update
Friday 13th Feb Since the new year we have all been busy doing as much walking as we can! Yesterday we did our first big training walk together, covering 30 kilometres in around 9 hours.
