I'm taking on Run Leicester

I am taking on the Leicester half marathon for the air ambulance who if it wasn’t for their swift actions and expertise then this story would have a different ending. My Dad had a traumatic accident in April 2025 where he was found with crush injuries to his chest in cardiac arrest. A date that is etched into my mind forever as well as the dreaded call from my Sister whilst pregnant and at home with my eldest Son there to witness my reaction. The air ambulance landed and the crew used their knowledge, expertise and care to carry out life saving measures at the road side in order to save my Dads life. He was admitted to QMC intensive care where he was ventilated in a medically induced coma, then he spent time in rehabilitation and has made a miraculous recovery. 

I have ran one half marathon previously for a small charity close to our families hearts. I haven’t ran one since 2023- and haven’t ran properly since way before I was pregnant so it will be a challenge for me but it’ll help the air ambulance who rely on donations to continue to help people who need it. It’s not until you need it you realise how important it is to keep these vital services going. They continue to support the patient and their families even afterwards with their aftercare service and this is invaluable.

Every day of the year, Your Local Air Ambulance (Warwickshire & Northamptonshire/Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland) is helping save more lives. Our critical care paramedics, doctors and pilots attend an average of five rescue missions a day.

The air ambulance gives people the very best chance of survival and recovery. We are supported by a Critical Care Car meaning that we can reach those who need us 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. The charity receives no government funding for its daily missions.
