50 Mile Base to Base Challenge for Air Ambulance
Between Monday 9th September and Sunday 22nd September, I will be taking part in a 50 mile base to base challenge to raise vital funds for my local air ambulance (Warwickshire & Northamptonshire/Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland) 50 miles is the distance between the air ambulances two bases, which I will be walking, running and cycling to complete.
Every day of the year, the air ambulance is helping save more lives. Their critical care paramedics, doctors and pilots attend an average of five rescue missions a day.
The air ambulance gives people the very best chance of survival and recovery. They are supported by a Critical Care Car meaning that they can reach those who need us 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. The charity receives no government funding for its daily missions.
Here's a few examples of how you donating can help the Air Ambulance:
- £10 could help pay for pressure dressings to control a patients breathing.
- £25 could pay for a blizzard blanket to protect patients from cooling too much.
- If 100 people raised £23 each, a life-saving mission could be funded (it costs £2,300 every time the air ambulance is deployed)
- £76.50 could buy an LMA supreme single-use ventilation device to protect and support a patient's airways.
